How to Connect Phorest Online Booking to Google Analytics 4

Phorest + Google Analytics 4

If you use Phorest for online booking, connecting it properly with Google Analytics 4 can give you a much clearer picture of what happens after someone visits your website.

Instead of only knowing that someone clicked Book Online, you can begin tracking the journey into your Phorest booking system and better understand whether your SEO, Google Ads and other marketing efforts are actually generating booking activity.

Already a Salon.Marketing Client?

If you are an active Salon.Marketing client, you can skip the Google Analytics setup portions of this guide.

We already manage the GA4 setup and website tracking for our clients.

In most cases, you can skip Steps 1 through 4 and start with Step 5: Find Your Phorest Account ID.

We will provide you with the correct GA4 Measurement ID to use in the Phorest request form, and once the connection is submitted, we can handle the testing and tracking verification from there.

Step 1: Make Sure You Have a Google Analytics 4 Account

Go to Google Analytics and make sure your salon has its own GA4 property.

If you do not already have one, create a Google Analytics account and then create a new GA4 property for your salon website.

Within that property, you will also need a Web Data Stream for your website.

When creating the stream:

  • Enter your main website URL
  • Give the stream a recognizable name
  • Keep Enhanced Measurement enabled in most cases

Step 2: Find Your GA4 Measurement ID

Once your Web Data Stream is created, go to:

Admin → Data Streams → Web → Select Your Website

You should see a Measurement ID near the top of the screen.

It will look something like:

G-XXXXXXXXXX

Important: this is the Measurement ID, not the numerical Stream ID.

Step 3: Make Sure GA4 Is Installed on Your Website

Creating Google Analytics does not automatically mean your website is being tracked.

The Google tag still needs to be installed on the website.

Depending on your website setup, this may be handled through:

  • Google Tag Manager
  • A built-in Google Analytics integration
  • A WordPress plugin
  • Google Site Kit
  • Direct installation of the Google tag

If you are unsure how your site is currently configured, this is an area where we recommend getting help before adding additional tracking.

Duplicate or incorrectly installed tags can create inaccurate reporting.

Step 4: Verify That Your Website is Sending Data

After GA4 has been installed, visit your website and then open:

Google Analytics → Reports → Realtime

You should be able to see your visit appear.

If you do not see activity, the setup should be checked before moving forward.

Common problems include:

  • The wrong Measurement ID was installed
  • The Google tag is not firing
  • Google Tag Manager is installed but GA4 is not configured correctly
  • Tracking is missing from certain pages
  • Multiple GA4 installations are interfering with each other

Step 5: Find Your Phorest Account ID

Your Phorest Account ID can typically be found in the upper-left area of Phorest underneath your salon name.

You may need to expand the left-hand sidebar to see it.

Make a note of this ID because you will need it when submitting the Google Analytics connection request to Phorest.

Step 6: Complete the Phorest GA4 Request Form

Phorest provides a request form for connecting Online Booking with Google Analytics 4.

Complete the form here:

https://phorestsalonsoftware.typeform.com/ga4-request

You will need:

  • Your salon information
  • Your Phorest Account ID
  • Your GA4 Measurement ID

When entering the Google Analytics information, use the Measurement ID beginning with G-.

Do not enter the numerical GA4 Stream ID.

Salon.Marketing Clients

If you are a Salon.Marketing client, we will provide your Measurement ID.

You simply need to:

  1. Locate your Phorest Account ID
  2. Complete the Phorest form
  3. Enter the Measurement ID we provide
  4. Submit the request
  5. Let us know once it has been submitted

We can take it from there.

Step 7: Submit the Request to Phorest

Once everything has been entered correctly, submit the form.

Phorest will handle its portion of the integration on the Online Booking side.

Do not assume the connection is working simply because the form has been submitted.

The tracking should still be tested.

Step 8: Test the Entire Booking Journey

Once the connection has been completed, perform a test from beginning to end.

Start on your salon website and:

  1. Visit a service page or homepage
  2. Click Book Online
  3. Enter the Phorest booking experience
  4. Navigate through locations, services, providers and available times
  5. Monitor Google Analytics to make sure the journey is being captured properly

This is especially important if you are running Google Ads.

Ideally, you want to be able to follow a journey such as:

Google Search → Website Visit → Book Online → Phorest → Booking Activity

rather than losing visibility as soon as the visitor leaves your website.

Step 9: Configure the Events That Actually Matter

Basic Google Analytics installation is only the starting point.

For a salon, we generally want to track actions such as:

  • Book Online clicks
  • Phone calls
  • Contact form submissions
  • Gift card clicks
  • Online booking activity
  • Completed appointments or booking confirmations when available
  • Important service-page engagement

Some of these may require additional Google Tag Manager or GA4 event configuration.

The objective is not simply to collect more data.

The objective is to track the actions that represent potential clients.

Step 10: Mark Important Actions as Key Events

Once your important events are being recorded correctly, you can identify the most meaningful ones as Key Events inside GA4.

For many salons, these may include:

  • Online booking completion
  • Schedule Appointment
  • Phone Call
  • Contact Form Submission
  • Gift Card Purchase or Click

This makes your reporting much more focused on real business outcomes.

Why This Setup Matters for Google Ads and SEO

Traffic alone does not tell you whether your marketing is working.

Seeing that traffic increased is useful.

Knowing whether that traffic turned into potential appointments is much more valuable.

Proper GA4 and Phorest tracking helps answer questions such as:

  • Are organic visitors entering the booking process?
  • Are Google Ads producing booking activity or just clicks?
  • Which services generate the most interest?
  • Which landing pages produce the most potential clients?
  • Which marketing channels are actually contributing to appointments?

Instead of only looking at:

Impressions → Clicks → Website Traffic

you can work toward:

Search → Website Visit → Book Online → Booking Journey → Appointment Activity

Why We Recommend Having This Professionally Set Up

Connecting Phorest to GA4 is only one piece of the tracking setup.

For the data to actually be useful, several systems may need to work together correctly:

  • GA4 configuration
  • Website tracking
  • Google Tag Manager
  • Phorest integration
  • Event tracking
  • Key Events
  • Google Ads conversion tracking
  • Referral and attribution settings
  • Testing and troubleshooting
  • Ongoing reporting

It is very possible to have Google Analytics installed and still be collecting incomplete or misleading data.

At Salon.Marketing, we handle the technical setup, testing and reporting so salon owners do not have to become Google Analytics experts.

Our goal is simple:

Help you understand which marketing efforts are actually generating booking activity and potential clients.

If you use Phorest and are unsure whether your website, Google Ads and online booking system are being tracked correctly, we can audit the setup and help get everything connected properly.
