If you use Meevo for online booking, connecting it properly with Google Analytics 4 can help you see what happens after someone visits your website and clicks Book Online.
Instead of only tracking website traffic, you can get better visibility into the customer journey and understand whether your SEO, Google Ads and other marketing efforts are actually producing booking activity.
For most salons, this requires a few pieces to work together correctly:
- The full booking journey should be tested.
- Google Analytics 4 must be set up properly.
- Website tracking must be installed and verified.
- Meevo Online Booking must be connected to your tracking setup.
Already a Salon.Marketing Client?
If you are an active Salon.Marketing client, you can skip the Google Analytics setup portions of this guide.
We already manage the GA4 setup and website tracking for our clients.
In most cases, you can skip Steps 1 through 4 and start with Step 5: Locate the Meevo Tracking Settings.
We will provide the correct Google Tag Manager ID or tracking information you need, and once it is added inside Meevo, we can handle the testing and tracking verification from there.
Step 1: Make Sure You Have a Google Analytics 4 Account
Your salon should have its own Google Analytics 4 property.
If you do not already have one, create a GA4 property for your website and then create a Web Data Stream.
When setting up the stream:
- Enter your main website URL
- Give the stream a clear name
- Keep Enhanced Measurement enabled in most cases
This allows Google Analytics to begin collecting standard website activity.
Step 2: Find Your GA4 Measurement ID
Inside Google Analytics, go to:
Admin → Data Streams → Web → Select Your Website
You should see a Measurement ID near the top.
It will look something like:
G-XXXXXXXXXX
This is the identifier tied to your GA4 web stream.
Step 3: Make Sure GA4 Is Installed on Your Website
Creating a GA4 property does not automatically mean your website is being tracked.
The Google tag still needs to be installed on your website.
Depending on your setup, this may be done through:
- Google Tag Manager
- Google Site Kit
- A WordPress plugin
- A built-in website integration
- Direct installation of the Google tag
If Google Tag Manager is being used, your website should have the correct GTM container installed and the GA4 configuration should be firing correctly.
Step 4: Verify That Website Tracking Is Working
After GA4 is installed, visit your website and then open:
Google Analytics → Reports → Realtime
You should be able to see your visit appear.
If you do not see activity, the tracking installation should be fixed before connecting Meevo.
Common issues include:
- The wrong GA4 property is installed
- The Google tag is not firing
- Google Tag Manager is installed incorrectly
- Multiple tracking setups are interfering with each other
- Tracking is missing from certain pages
Step 5: Locate the Meevo Tracking Settings
Log into Meevo using an account with access to your Online Booking settings.
Navigate to your Online Booking configuration.
Depending on your Meevo setup and permissions, you may be able to locate this under your business or online booking settings.
Look for a section related to:
- Google Tag Manager
- Google Analytics
- Tracking
- Online Booking tracking

Step 6: Add Your Google Tag Manager ID
Meevo supports Google Tag Manager within its Online Booking system.
Your Google Tag Manager ID will typically look like:
GTM-XXXXXXX
Enter the GTM ID provided for your account into the appropriate Meevo tracking field.
Then save your changes.
Salon.Marketing Clients
If you are a Salon.Marketing client, we will provide the correct Google Tag Manager ID.
You simply need to:
- Log into Meevo
- Find the Online Booking tracking settings
- Enter the GTM ID we provide
- Save the changes
- Let us know when it is complete
We can handle the Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and testing side from there.
Step 7: Test the Booking Journey
Once the tracking information has been added to Meevo, the setup should be tested.
Start on your salon website and:
- Visit a service page or homepage
- Click Book Online
- Enter the Meevo booking experience
- Navigate through locations, services, providers and available times
- Monitor Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to confirm that tracking is continuing properly
The goal is to maintain visibility as the visitor moves from the website into the booking system.
Ideally, you want to be able to follow a journey like:
Google Search → Website Visit → Book Online → Meevo → Booking Activity
rather than losing visibility as soon as the visitor enters Meevo.
Step 8: Configure the Events That Matter
Basic GA4 installation only tells part of the story.
For a salon, we generally want to track actions such as:
- Book Online clicks
- Phone calls
- Contact form submissions
- Gift card clicks
- Online booking activity
- Booking confirmation activity when available
- Important service-page engagement
Some of these events may need to be configured through Google Tag Manager.
The goal is not to track every possible interaction.
The goal is to track the actions that represent real potential clients.
Step 9: Mark Important Actions as Key Events
Once important events are being tracked correctly, the most valuable ones can be marked as Key Events inside GA4.
For many salons, these may include:
- Online booking completion
- Schedule Appointment
- Phone Call
- Contact Form Submission
- Gift Card Purchase or Click
This gives you a much better view of which marketing efforts are producing meaningful activity.
Why This Matters for Google Ads and SEO
Traffic alone does not tell you whether your marketing is working.
A salon can have more website visitors and still have no idea whether those visitors are actually trying to book.
Proper GA4 and Meevo tracking helps answer much better questions:
- Are organic visitors entering the booking process?
- Are Google Ads generating booking activity or just clicks?
- Which services are attracting the most potential clients?
- Which landing pages are producing the strongest results?
- Which marketing channels are contributing to appointments?
Instead of only looking at:
Impressions → Clicks → Website Traffic
you can work toward:
Search → Website Visit → Book Online → Meevo → Booking Activity
That is a much more useful marketing picture.
Why We Recommend Having This Professionally Set Up
Connecting Meevo to Google Analytics is only one part of the tracking setup.
For the data to actually be useful, several systems may need to work together correctly:
- GA4 configuration
- Website tracking
- Google Tag Manager
- Meevo integration
- Event tracking
- Key Events
- Google Ads conversion tracking
- Referral and attribution settings
- Testing and troubleshooting
- Ongoing reporting
It is entirely possible to have Google Analytics installed while still collecting incomplete or misleading data.
At Salon.Marketing, we handle the technical setup, testing and reporting so salon owners do not have to become Google Analytics experts.
Our goal is simple:
Help you understand which marketing efforts are actually generating booking activity and potential clients.
If you use Meevo and are unsure whether your website, Google Ads and online booking system are being tracked correctly, we can audit the setup and help get everything connected properly.
